Vic: Bracks says he's staying on

Victorian Premier STEVE BRACKS has clarified comments he made on television yesterday
suggesting he may not contest the next state election in 2006 as leader.

Interviewed on Channel Seven yesterday, Mr BRACKS appeared to indicate he would be
considering his future at the end of the current term, but today he says he'd misunderstood
the question.

But speaking to reporters at today's Davis Cup celebrations, Mr BRACKS said the remarks
were a misunderstanding.

He says he thought he was talking about the post-2006 period.

Mr BRACKS says he'll be there in 2006.
